Sparks Waive Guard Chennedy Carter
Undoing a Mistake from the Fisher Era
The Los Angeles Sparks announced Friday that they have waived guard Chennedy Carter after one season with the team. Carter was acquired prior to last season from the Atlanta Dream in return for a first-round draft pick.
The move comes as no surprise, as Carter has been the subject of trade rumors for months. She struggled to find her place in Los Angeles, averaging just 7.4 points and 2.6 assists per game. The Sparks also have a number of other young guards on their roster, including Lexie Brown and Aaliyah Boston.
Carter's departure is the latest in a series of moves by the Sparks to overhaul their roster. The team has also waived center Kristine Anigwe and forward Katie Lou Samuelson in recent weeks. The Sparks are hoping to rebound from a disappointing 13-21 season in 2022.
