Andre Johnson: An Underrated NFL Star
Early Life and Career
Andre Lamont Johnson was born on July 11, 1981, in Miami, Florida. He played college football at the University of Miami, where he was a three-time All-American and set numerous school records. Johnson was selected third overall by the Houston Texans in the 2003 NFL Draft.
NFL Career
Johnson spent 12 seasons with the Texans, becoming one of the most productive wide receivers in NFL history. He led the league in receiving yards in 2008 and 2009, and was a three-time Pro Bowl selection. Johnson also set numerous Texans franchise records, including most career receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions.
In 2015, Johnson signed with the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent two seasons before retiring in 2017. He finished his NFL career with 1,056 receptions for 14,185 yards and 70 touchdowns.
Legacy
Andre Johnson is considered one of the best wide receivers of his era. He is a member of the Houston Texans Ring of Honor and the Dade County Sports Hall of Fame. In 2022, Johnson was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
